Position Description

    • Position Summary
    • Classified as: Health Careers Pathway Coordinator

      Full-time position available on or after February 12, 2025 for CSUS Stockton.

      Under direct supervision, the Health Careers Pathway Coordinator is responsible for developing and supporting a seamless P-20 Health Careers pipeline by working closely with high school and community college students, facilitating dual enrollment opportunities, and connecting them with resources to ensure successful program completion

      Incumbents at this level typically assist a higher level Student Services Professional within the program area assigned. Such assistance may be to lend direct support to the ongoing assignments of a higher level Student Services Professional (e.g., to assist in the development and administration of policies and procedures relating to the program area); and/or to be responsible for specific and well-defined functions within a program area (e.g., performing needs analysis, advisement of policy and eligibility requirements, and determining award sources as in Financial Aid).

      Student Services Professionals are responsible for providing a wide variety of professional services and activities ranging from preadmission to the university through post graduation. The purpose of these services and activities is to assist students in making successful progress toward their degree objectives; to provide learning experiences which supplement those in the classroom; and to assist and encourage students to utilize effectively the knowledge, skills and abilities learned during their university careers.

      Such services and activities may include providing information and guidance to students; assisting students to think through problems and select suitable solutions and courses of action; evaluating student needs and authorizing services; coordinating and administering programs, events, and projects; facilitating student involvement in campus life; advocating the needs of individual students and groups of students to university administrators, faculty and staff; and providing support and assistance to students facing a variety of personal as well as institutional problems, questions and challenges.

    • Job Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Provide information and guidance to students; assist students in thinking through problems and selecting suitable solutions and courses of action.
      • Advocate for the needs of individual students and groups of students to university
        administrators, faculty, and staff.
      • Provide support and assistance to students facing a variety of personal as well as
        institutional problems, questions, and challenges.
      • Conduct personal interactions with students primarily to acquire information, ascertain facts, provide information, and occasionally secure cooperation and understanding on matters related to specific Student Services programs.
      • Utilize basic interviewing techniques in personal interactions with students.
      • Make recommendations on matters covered by regulations, procedures, and established parameters.
      • Coordinate and administer programs, events, and projects; facilitate student involvement in campus life.
      • Perform duties in several program operations or services that are well-structured and
        procedural in nature, requiring little or no planning and coordinating of work objectives and operations by the incumbent.
      • Assist a higher-level Student Services Professional in developing and administering policies and procedures related to the program area.
      • Work with close direction where procedures and parameters are less defined and/or change frequently.
      • Exercise independence within the established structure in selecting approaches to assigned tasks.
      • Evaluate student needs and authorize services, utilizing established guidelines, regulations, and precedents.
      • Review student background and pertinent documents to determine eligibility for various campus services and to assist students in choosing appropriate courses of action.
      • Perform needs analysis, advisement of policy and eligibility requirements, and determine award sources such as in Financial Aid.
      • Review and organize materials for written and oral presentations under close supervision or within defined parameters.
      • Provide procedural, budgetary, and staffing analysis for a small program or segment of a large program
      • Other duties as assigned.
    • Minimum Qualifications
    • Education:Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. (Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.)

    • Preferred Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in education, health sciences, public health, or a related field.
      • Experience with program recruitment and enrollment methods and practices.
      • Experience mentoring and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
      • Experience in planning and conducting workshops.
      • Experience acting as a liaison between educational institutions and community agencies.
    • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

      • Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior.
      • Working knowledge of research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information.
      • Working knowledge of the techniques and methods of interviewing.
      • Ability to gather and analyze data, ability to reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
      • Ability to participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews.
      • Ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally.
      • Ability to write clear and concise reports.
      • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty.

    • Special Conditions

      • This position is based at the Stockton campus.
      • Occasionally required to work evenings or weekends as needed to attend special events.
      • This position requires regular travel to off-site locations, specifically to community colleges and high schools within San Joaquin County.
      • This position requires occasional travel to the Turlock campus for meetings.
    • License or Certifications

      • Valid California Driver's License

    • Salary Range
    • Anticipated salary will be $4,150 – $4,565 per month plus excellent paid benefits. Salary will depend on the qualifications of the successful finalist. (Full Student Services Professional I range: $4,150 - $5,076 per month)
