Job Summary 

The Program Developer is responsible for assessing learner needs, designing and developing curriculum, and creating instructional materials that enhance the educational experience for adult learners. This role focuses on leveraging market research and engaging with stakeholders to deliver innovative, high-quality learning programs that meet the needs of a diverse student population within the College of Continuing and Professional Education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Needs Assessment and Market Research - Research and analyze market trends and labor market data to identify program opportunities, inform program development, and ensure alignment with industry demands and priorities of the college and university.
  • Program Planning and Design - Lead the planning and design of new programs and courses that meet identified needs and market demands, aligning with the college’s strategic goals and mission.
  • Curriculum Development and Instructional Design - Apply instructional design models to develop course curricula that align with program objectives and create effective learning experiences for diverse learners.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building - Collaborate with college leaderships and academic leaders to align program offerings with college and university goals.
  • Program Evaluation and Continuous Improvement - Lead efforts for continuous improvement by developing and implementing evaluation strategies and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and assess the effectiveness, quality, viability and sustainability of programs and courses.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Strong research, analytical, and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff. Knowledge of adult learning theories and best practices in online education. Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard) and other educational technologies.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree preferably with courses in adult education and curriculum planning and three years of experience in planning classes and curriculum for higher or extended education programs including developing resources, budgets, marketing plans, and acting as a liaison with the community required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

• Experience in instructional design, online course development, program development curriculum for higher or extended education programs or a related area preferred. Experience in higher education or continuing education is preferred.

Physical Summary

  • Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $6,320 - $6,994 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $6,320 - $9,014 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
