Job Summary

Under general direction, the incumbent is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of complex and detailed transactions and reconciliations for Accounts Payable (AP) in all three University business units: Campus, Research Foundation, and 49er Foundation. All processes are completed in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and structured University guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently perform all operational AP functions related to invoice processing or disbursements.
  • Perform reconciliations and analysis with respect to AP.
  • Provide excellent customer service. Communicate appropriately and effectively, both oral and written.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Experience using a large ERP financial system (e.g. PeopleSoft, SAP). Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting and GAAP procedures related to the daily operational duties of Accounts Payable. Demonstrated ability to independently research and solve problems. Ability to interpret a wide variety of written rules and regulations, including knowledge of sales and use tax and 1099 reporting. Excellent organizational and planning skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and to be accountable for own work. Demonstrated experience in customer service environments.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

  •  Equivalent to four years of Accounts Payable experience or closely related financial record keeping experience required.
  • Bachelors Degree and experience in a fast paced AP environment is preferred.

Physical Summary

Sedentary work - Involves mainly sitting. Walking and standing are minimal. Lifting is limited to lightweight objects. (10 pounds or less).

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,570 - $6,030 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,570 - $6,658 per month.

1.0    time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a full-time, probationary position.
