Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Foundation Financial Analyst focuses on strategic financial analysis, planning & program evaluation; financial operations & compliance; process improvement & systems optimization; and stakeholder advising & fund administration. The incumbent supports financial reporting, reconciliation, fund oversight, compliance activities, and continuous enhancement of financial operations.

  • Synthesizes complex, multi-source financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable insights to executive leadership.
  • Leads the preparation and delivery of comprehensive financial reports, dashboards, and analyses for senior leadership, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic relevance.
  • Executes and validates complex financial reports and transactions for diverse stakeholders, integrating, reconciling, and validating data across multiple financial systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and applicable reporting standards.
  • Interprets complex gift, grant, and funding agreements, translating technical and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance for stakeholders.
  • Monitors fund activity and provides ongoing analysis and recommendations to ensure compliance with restrictions, reporting requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience.
  • Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and apply advanced financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical techniques to evaluate complex financial data, identify trends and risks, assess program performance, and provide strategic recommendations that support organizational planning, budgeting, and resource allocation decisions.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial reporting, budget development, reconciliation processes, and data interpretation, with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to executive leadership, exercise independent judgment in resolving financial issues, and provide sound guidance on financial strategy, policy implications, and operational impacts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements, including GAAP and applicable federal, state, CSU, and Foundation policies, with the ability to interpret and apply complex financial guidelines to ensure compliance, accurate reporting, and proper stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Demonstrated skill in reconciling and validating complex financial data across multiple systems, conducting detailed transactional analysis, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions to maintain data integrity, support audit activities, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reporting.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Classification: 5291 / Budget Analyst III / 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $5877 – $7023 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5877 - $8561 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.  
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. 
  • The position is currently hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
