Position: Assistant Professor of Strategy/Organization Theory (2 Open Positions)
Effective Date: August 17, 2027 (Fall Semester)
Salary Range: The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary is $6,221 to $13,224/per month (12 monthly payments per academic year). The anticipated hiring range is $10,916 to $11,750/per month. Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or D.B.A. in Business, Management, or Strategy, with a concentration in Strategic Management or Organizational Theory; Degree at time of application or official notification of completion of the doctoral degree by August 1, 2027
- Demonstrated potential to effectively teach and engage in curriculum development for Strategic Management or Organization Theory subjects at the undergraduate and graduate level
- Demonstrated potential for research leading to peer-reviewed publications
- Demonstrated potential to contribute in service roles to the department, college, university, and community
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including low socioeconomic and first-generation students

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching classes with a focus on strategic management or topics within organization theory
- Expertise in case analysis and writing assessments for undergraduate program; strategy-related teaching expertise will be considered
- Strong research pipelines and have published or are under review in journals of recognized quality in the Strategy and Organization Theory fields
- Experience successfully working with diverse student populations, including those from a range of demographic and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Experience mentoring or supporting students using inclusive and culturally relevant teaching strategies in a diverse classroom
Duties:
- Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Primary teaching assignment will likely include undergraduate courses in strategic management and organization theory. (Mode of instruction may include in-person, hybrid, online, and/or any combination thereof.)
- Engage in research, scholarly and creative activities leading to conference presentations and publications
- Participate in service to the department, college, university, and community

The College of Business (COB) is a leading, dynamic urban college serving south Los Angeles County and Orange County. Business is one of the most popular fields of study on campus. Accredited since 1971 at both the undergraduate and graduate levels by AACSB International, the College of Business has approximately 4,870 undergraduate majors, nearly 600 graduate students in eight masters’ programs, and a network of 65,000 graduates since its inception. About the Department:
The Department of Management and Human Resource Management (MHRM) is among the largest and most academically diverse Departments in the COB. It houses three majors (Management, Human Resource Management, and Supply Chain Management), three minors (Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, and Supply Chain Management), three core undergraduate courses (Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, and the Business Strategy capstone), and three core graduate courses. In Spring 2026, 1,117 undergraduate students were enrolled in one of our majors, and the MHRM Department offered 110 undergraduate class sections, serving 4,177 students across the COB, and 22 graduate class sections, serving 422 students. Faculty within the Department are dedicated to delivering meaningful and engaging instruction for our students, conducting impactful research in high quality academic journals, and contributing to the development of the Southern California region. The MHRM Department offers or participates in a number of exciting programs and events each year, including the Apostle Entrepreneurship Incubator, an HR Symposium, the regional meeting of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, the Intercollegiate Business Strategy Competition, the CalSHRM HR Case Competition, and more!
