The purpose of this recruitment is to produce a pool of qualified applicants to call upon for temporary/emergency hire appointments. Successful candidates may be appointed for a few days up to one year depending on the assignment. Temporary appointments may be canceled or extended at any time. This is a Temporary and/or hourly intermittent appointment. No probationary period. No permanent status is granted.
Conditions of Employment
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

The College of Arts and Humanities is the center for artistic, humanities, and social scientific activities at the university. Position Summary
This pool is for two (2) temporary pool positions, one (1) for Music and one (1) for Dance.
Provide piano and/or percussion accompaniment for instrumental and choral ensembles, specialized classes, and auditions. Provide piano and/or percussion accompaniment for classes in a variety of modern dance, ballet, jazz, tap, and improvisations, and for auditions, rehearsals, and performances. Assist instructors in obtaining music for class demonstrations and provide demonstrations under direction. Provide accompaniment for public performances.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
Education: Special training or coursework that would facilitate composing and improvising music and/or coaching and accompanying.
Experience: Experience which has led to a thorough familiarity with accompanying choral groups and soloists (instrumental and vocal) or interpretive dances. Depending upon the position to be filled, experience in coaching performing artists may be required.
Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of fundamentals of harmony; and skill in playing one or more musical instruments as accompanist. Ability to select appropriate dance music; ability to compose or improvise music, ability to coach performing artists; ability to transcribe music from recordings.
Work well with faculty and students to schedule rehearsals and performances. Communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Follow all university, college, division, program policies and procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and nondiscrimination. Contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Music or equivalent professional experience; and/or a Master's degree.
Experience: Advanced training and experience as a piano accompanist in a wide variety of musical settings.
Knowledge skills and abilities: Excellent sight reading and transposition of music; composing or improvising music; and transcribing music from recordings. Wide range of instrumental and choral solo ensemble literature. Thorough familiarity with accompanying choral groups, soloists, and instrumental groups. Ability to provide piano accompaniment for choral ensembles and instrumental ensembles. Professional level accompanist ability as evidenced by a record of musical activity.
