POSITION

The Department of Counseling & Psychological Services at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its part-time Counselor pool.

We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student centered in the following subject areas: 

  • Clinical supervision
  • Multicultural/Diversity
  • College population
  • Crisis intervention
  • Individual/group therapy
  • Outreach/Consultation

This a general recruitment for a pool of part-time counselors for the department to draw from as needed. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE PART-TIME POOL ARE TEMPORARY. APPLICANTS MUST BE AVAILABLE ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD, PsyD. degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology or related field or equivalent experience
  • CA License as a Psychologist
  • Candidates should have prior supervision experience at the doctoral level
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference will be given to those with significant experience in working with diverse college populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Preference will also be given to those with relevant performance and professional experience.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

Regular performance evaluations of part-time counselors are made by the department in accord with the faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070. These performance evaluations determine which counselors will be retained for future and continued counseling assignments. And in some instances, evaluations, assignments and reading material will be reviewed by the departmental personnel committee.

COMPENSATION

The temporary Counselor classification salary range is $7,830 to $14,109 per month
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $8,104 per month

The full-time monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the time base assigned.

Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm). .

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides support for students facing personal challenges and mental health concerns. Services offered at CAPS include short-term individual counseling, group counseling, case management and referral, psychoeducational workshops, and crisis intervention. The CAPS team is comprised of mental health professionals including psychologists, social workers, and marriage and family therapists who specialize in working with a diverse college student population. Services are also provided by graduate-level psychology interns working under the supervision of a licensed counselor.   For more information about CAPS, visit Fullerton.edu/caps.

Counselor rehired at CSUF after a break in service of 12 or more months who have not had a CSUF background check within the past 12 months will be subject to a new background check; rehire is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the new background check

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
