About the Position: 

The Office of Financial Aid is available to remove the cost of barriers that may prevent individuals from pursuing their educational goals. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as a Student Personnel Technician (Financial Aid). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Student Personnel Technician will be one of a team of financial aid technicians who assist students by providing information, direction, and service. The staff member performs in the following areas: (1) provide information to a population of more than 30,000 students, (2) evaluate student financial need and eligibility for aid of more than 24,000 applicants, and (3) completes projects in support of delivery of $122 million in federal, state, and private financial aid. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Two years or the equivalent of responsible general clerical experience in a college or university Financial Aid office demonstrating acquisition of a practical understanding of the policies and procedures of Financial Aid programs.

General knowledge of interviewing techniques. Thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures of various financial aid programs available. Ability to sustain a working knowledge of the changes in financial aids programs. Ability to obtain, analyze, and evaluate data for specific use. Ability to advise and assist students in selecting and processing financial aids contracts. Ability to keep records and write clear reports. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, and co-workers. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position. Ability to perform arithmetic computations.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of PeopleSoft software program is desirable. Ability to function effectively as part of a high-performance team to ensure timely delivery of financial aid funds. Ability to independently problem-solve, exercise initiative, and propose change.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
