About the Position: 

The Division of Information Technology strives to be a strategic, innovative, and best‐in‐class IT organization that provides a leading‐edge technology environment for students, faculty, and staff to advance the University’s mission, vision, and goals. We seek an exceptional individual to join our Information Technology – Network Operations team as the Network Analyst – Expert. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity.

Under minimal supervision, the Network Analyst is responsible for independently designing, implementing, and maintaining the campus network infrastructure and relevant network security. Supports the network infrastructure in wired, wireless, and other communication methods. This includes, but is not limited to, the operating system, virtual system, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, network security, network operation, network monitoring, and network performance baseline. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university with five years of relevant full-time experience or twelve years of relevant full-time experience.

Advanced knowledge of the work area demonstrated by an understanding and use of the advanced principles and theories; ability to integrate and apply work related knowledge to achieve innovative solutions, anticipate the impact of problems and solutions on other systems; investigate and research new systems and technologies, develop complex information technology systems and solutions; understand problems from a broad perspective; ability to explore, conceive and implement solutions and ideas in new ways; ability to predict and anticipate problems and create proactive solutions. Demonstrate communication expertise using persuasion and negotiation; ability to lead technical team efforts and assess skills within a team and working to build on individual strengths to maximize team results; ability to teach and transfer knowledge and skills to others.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of five years in Network Administration or Network Security and holds industry certification in networking or security. Preferably experienced in Cisco / Checkpoints / Juniper / Palo Alto Network, Amazon Web Services (AWS). Possesses expert knowledge of the above network equipment but is not limited to: Windows, Linux Operating System, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Transmission Control Protocol /Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Internet Protocol version 4 Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv4 IPv6), Internet Protocol Subnetting, Firewall, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Virtual Private Network (VPN), Network Time Protocol (NTP), Network Tools, Scanner, Protocol Analyzer, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), logs, Routing, Switching, Network Load Balancing, High Availability, Wireless, Open Systems Interconnection 7 layers, etc. Understand different security compliances and policies such as Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA), Payment Card Industry (PCI), and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) etc.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. The purpose of this report is to disclose statistics for fires that occurred within California State University, Fullerton housing facilities for the last three (3) calendar years, and to distribute fire safety policies and procedures intended to promote safety on campus.
