Head Sports Performance Coach

The Department of Athletics at California State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a Head Sports Performance Coach position with an anticipated appointment to begin Spring 2025.

Position
Under the general direction of the Director of Athletics, the Head Sports Performance Coach is responsible for directing development and implementation of athletics performance enhancement programs for Division I athletic teams. The Head Coach will provide leadership and oversight of all aspects of the Sports Performance program, including the following duties:
- Develop, implement, and monitor speed, strength, and conditioning programs to enhance athletic performance for Division I athletic teams
- Coordinate with coaching staff of Division I athletic teams to design and implement safe and effective pre-season, in-season and off-season sport-specific strength training and conditioning programs
- Instruct, monitor, and educate all student-athletes regarding proper weight training techniques
- Communicate and work in partnership with athletic trainers to provide an integrated program of injury prevention, reconditioning, and performance training
- Manage the daily operation of the weight room, including scheduling, inventory, maintenance, and purchasing of new equipment
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for risk management, appropriate supervision, record keeping, evaluation, and maintenance
- Supervise sports performance staff
- Manage the sports performance annual operating budget
- Attend practices and competitions
- Work with the Director of Corporate Sponsorships to establish strategic partnerships to enhance the sports performance center
- Know and abide by NCAA, University, & Big West rules and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field
- Preferred Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Three years of relevant coaching experience in the field of strength and conditioning and/or sports performance
- Demonstrated commitment to successfully work with a diverse campus community
- Ability to motivate student-athletes to perform at their optimal level
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and regulations

Compensation
The Coaching Specialist 12-Month/Head Sports Performance classification salary range is $6,538 to $11,642 per month (12 monthly payments). The anticipated hiring range is $7,084- $7,667 per month.
Salary offered is commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, the California Equal Pay Act prohibits employers from paying its employees less than those of the opposite sex and/or another race or ethnicity for substantially similar work (https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/california_equal_pay_act.htm).
