About the Position:
Information Technology Services strives to be a strategic, innovative, and best‐in‐class IT organization that provides a leading‐edge technology environment for students, faculty, and staff to advance the University’s mission, vision, and goals. We seek an exceptional individual to join our Information Technology – Academic Technology Development team as the Information Technology Consultant - Career. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
The IT Consultant will be responsible for imaging, installing, configuring, deploying, and maintaining computer equipment in accordance with university security standards. Includes monitoring and maintaining devices such as computers, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and cameras across classrooms, labs, and other learning environments. Supports both physical and virtual systems, troubleshoots issues, and ensures secure and efficient technology operations. Involves providing setup and ongoing support for audio/visual equipment in classrooms, labs, conference rooms, and campus events. Provides responsive and professional technical assistance to users through in-person support, phone, email, and virtual platforms. The IT Consultant troubleshoots and resolves issues related to applications, workstations, and related equipment, and works to minimize disruptions to end users. Responsibilities also include guiding users in the effective use of software and hardware, and developing or delivering training resources as needed. The IT Consultant supports the full lifecycle of technology inventory, including purchasing, receiving, tracking, and disposal of equipment. The role includes oversight of warranties, software/hardware licenses, server certificates, and upgrades. The IT Consultant supports and maintains LINUX, Windows, and other operating systems, implements security measures, monitors performance, sets permissions, and ensures effective backup and recovery protocols. Includes maintaining documentation, policies, and standards, as well as supporting department websites when needed. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications
|
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field plus two years of relevant full-time experience or the equivalent part-time experience. Eight years of relevant full-time experience or an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and four years of relevant full-time experience may be substituted for the previously listed education and experience requirement.
Functional knowledge of the specialty area is demonstrated by an understanding and use of advanced principles and theories. Ability to integrate work related knowledge to address problems. Demonstrated competency in applying standard and non-standard technology applications and exploring and adapting to changing technology. Ability to independently apply technical judgment, recognize problems, use reasoning and logic to establish possible causes, interpret and apply theories and principles, generate alternative solutions, and implement a plan of action for the best resolution. Ability to develop solutions where precedents do not always exist. Ability to be proactive, anticipate outcomes and consequences of different approaches, and modify action plans. Demonstrated competence in interpreting and communicating information. Ability to use reflective listening skills when working with others. Ability to assist others in completing assignments and provides work direction and training to others on new skills and procedures. Ability to plan and work on shared projects.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
