About the Position:
The Office of the Registrar serves students and the campus community by providing quality services that facilitate enrollment, retention, and degree completion while maintaining accurate academic records for the University. We are also responsible for processing transfer credit and maintaining articulation agreements with other institutions. Additionally, we register new and continuing students for classes, maintain academic records, prepare transcripts and diplomas, and review petitions for exception to university policy. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Registrar, Evaluation (Administrator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
The Associate Registrar is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Evaluation, Articulation, and Degree Audit units. They are directly responsible for the Assistant Registrar for Articulation and Degree Audit and leading a team of 9-10 full-time staff members within the Transfer and Graduation Evaluation unit. The Associate Registrar sets unit goals and provides oversight of degree conferment, transfer credit evaluation, diploma production, and supports campus-wide goals in enrollment management and student success. Recruits, interviews, selects, and trains new staff; evaluates performance; and recommends appropriate action as needed.
Provides strategic leadership in daily operations by establishing unit goals aligned with the Office of the Registrar's and CSUF’s mission, goals, and strategic plan, ensuring a student-centered, equity-minded approach to service delivery. Oversees the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and workflow management strategies, ensuring timely and accurate transfer evaluations, degree audits, and degree conferrals.
Serves as the campus expert on academic record evaluation, transfer credit policy, and degree conferment practices. Ensures compliance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations, CSU Executive Orders, other systemwide and federal/state educational mandates, and CSUF University Policy Statements (UPS). Partners with campus leadership—including Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Deans, Associate Deans, IT, Advising, and the CSU Chancellor’s Office—to resolve complex issues and enhance systems that impact transfer articulation, graduation timelines, and student records.
Leads the evaluation unit’s technical operations by providing functional leadership for degree audit (uAchieve) and student information systems (PeopleSoft). Coordinates testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of system upgrades and enhancements to maintain the integrity and accuracy of academic evaluations and records. Collects and analyzes data to identify trends and outcomes, utilizing insights to recommend process improvements and technology-driven solutions.
Drives process innovation and promotes a culture of service excellence within the Office of the Registrar. Ensures that communication with students, faculty, and advisors is clear, consistent, and transparent, particularly during critical enrollment and graduation periods. Provides visible leadership during commencement preparation and diploma issuance.
Supports university-wide efforts such as commencement, grad-fest, experience CSUF, campus events, academic advising initiatives, and cross-divisional committees related to academic progress, student success, and enrollment initiatives. Represents the Office of the Registrar on task forces and working groups focused on improving the student experience and administrative effectiveness. Other duties as assigned.
