About the Position: 

Our purpose in the Division of Student Affairs at California State University, Fullerton is to transform the lives of our students academically, personally and professionally, equipping all with the knowledge and skills required for success. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Student Affairs Assessment and Strategic Initiatives Specialist (Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity.

Reporting to the Chief of Operations for Student Affairs, the Student Affairs Assessment and Strategic Initiatives Specialist will perform highly complex work in reviewing group and/or organizational problems, developing and recommending courses of action, and implementing proposed solutions associated with assessment, student programs, and other assigned special projects. Coordinates the division assessment efforts, Student Fee programs, Panetta Congressional Internship Program, NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP), and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Ambassador Program which are all aimed at ensuring student success, integrating students into campus life, and addressing the holistic development of all CSUF students. Guides staff and students through processes and experiences, assisting with problem solving and finding solutions that support student success, providing appropriate support when needed. The Student Affairs Assessment and Strategic Initiatives Specialist will provide guidance to campus community and division on topics related to assessment, student fees, and special programs. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices or programs plus four years of related experience. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program and/or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program and/or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.  Skilled in the research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems, address them proactively, and develop appropriate recommendations leading to solutions. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form and use consultative and facilitation skills to gain consensus. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

The candidate possesses strong written, oral communication, and proofreading skills. They are able to work independently and with minimal supervision when needed. They have experience advising students, with knowledge of leadership and organizational development principles and theories. They demonstrate excellent critical thinking, analytical abilities, and attention to detail. They hold a thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and practices of their assigned program area, or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge, as well as a general understanding of Student Affairs programs outside their immediate area. They are knowledgeable of Student Fee policies, as well as employment policies and procedures. Their background includes research experience related to student affairs and student development, along with knowledge of co-curricular student learning and performance assessment. In addition, they bring experience managing large-scale assessment efforts, including developing and implementing assessment plans.

License/Certifications

A valid California driver’s license.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, the current Annual Security Report (ASR) is available for viewing at: https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/. This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

 

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/.
