Department

The purpose of the Vice President of Student Affairs Office at Cal State Fullerton is to transform the lives of the students academically, personally and professionally, equipping all with the knowledge and skills required for success. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs, Strategic Enrollment Management (Administrator III). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management (VPSASEM), the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Student Affairs, Strategic Enrollment Management is a member of the Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management Leadership Team. The AVP administers policies affecting the academic and developmental needs of students and has direct responsibility for overseeing the directors of assigned units, supporting them in planning, and implementing programs, budgets, personnel matters, and policies. Serves on various university committees and fosters an appreciation for students from various ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. The AVP is instrumental in promoting CSUF as a Hispanic-Serving Institution and Asian/ Pacific Islander-Serving Institution. Seeks grant-funding sources and raises funds for scholarships. Represents CSUF at various community and government relations events. Assists the VPSASEM in providing overall administrative leadership for the Division of Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management and serves in the Vice President's place when necessary.

Develops and implements programs and projects within the division. Manages individual student problems, complaints, and issues as necessary. Serves as the lead for the division's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategic plan and support for the University Strategic Plan. Assists with the division's assessment. The AVP has campus­wide responsibilities including working with the offices of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President of Administration and Finance, University Advancement, Vice President for Information Technology, the Division of Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence, and other units to enrich student life and the student experience. The AVP for Strategic Enrollment Management is responsible for oversight of departments that build pipelines of college success from outreach, admission, educational funding, community engagement, and career development. The AVP serves as a liaison to Strategic Educational Partnerships and a member of the campus Strategic Enrollment Management team. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field. Seven to ten years of higher education experience including both supervisory and budgetary responsibilities. Candidate must have significant progressively responsible leadership experience in higher education, including oversight of multiple student affairs and enrollment management functions such as admissions, financial aid, outreach, student success programs, and career services. Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise senior staff, manage complex organizational structures, and implement strategic initiatives are essential. The successful candidate will have experience with strategic enrollment management, data-informed decision-making, and program assessment to improve student retention, persistence, and graduation outcomes.

In addition, the role requires a strong commitment to DEI, with demonstrated experience supporting historically underserved student populations and advancing equity-focused initiatives. Proven ability to collaborate effectively across divisions, engage with community and external partners, and represent the university in high-level meetings and public forums is required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage sensitive student issues, respond to crises, and support institutional policies and compliance. Familiarity with student information systems and the use of technology to enhance student services is also expected.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) position under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. CSAs are responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act Crimes reported to them or that they witness. CSA training is required.

This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/.
