We seek an exception individual to join our Arts Marketing and Patron Services department as the Director of Marketing and Patron Services (Administrator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Director of Marketing and Patron Services provides comprehensive marketing and administrative leadership for the College of the Arts (COTA), including the Dean's Office, Development, the Department of Art, the Department of Theatre and Dance, the School of Music, and the Marketing and Patron Services offices. This role is responsible for overseeing personnel and managing operations within the Marketing and Patron Services Office and Box Office, ensuring productivity and efficiency across the units. The position is responsible for strategic planning, directing, and managing marketing campaigns to support the College's goals and initiatives. The Director is dedicated to planning and managing strategic marketing campaigns for the College of the Arts. This includes overseeing marketing operations, advising on image and brand identity for the Performing Arts Center and COTA Galleries, promoting collaboration between departments and schools, and overseeing the creation of student recruitment promotional materials for the College.

The Director oversees the Marketing and Patron Services Office personnel and Box Office staff, monitoring productions, and providing leadership and expertise. This includes weekly staff meetings, fund reconciliation, oversight of box office operations, front-of-house audience services, purchasing, printing, financial projections, and reports. The Director consults with the Dean and Associate Dean on policy and personnel matters, coordinating communication across departments, and advises on operating policies for the Performing Arts Center. Oversees all College of the Arts websites and social media. The Director plays a critical role in ensuring cohesive communication strategies, effective audience engagement, and the successful promotion of the College's highly visible performing and visual arts programs. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Possession of  excellent communication (verbal, written) and math skills. Working practical knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Demonstrated creativity in producing successful marketing campaigns, including electronic and printed materials. Working knowledge of best practices in website design and maintenance. Fundamental understanding of graphic design concepts.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Arts degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in and demonstrated general knowledge of all the arts (music, dance, theatre, and visual arts). In-depth training and knowledge of best business practices in marketing, publicity, and public relations procedures. Leadership experience with an arts organization, a college/university, or a producing agency—ability to collaborate successfully with the College of the Arts and all-university faculty/staff/students.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) position under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. CSAs are responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act Crimes reported to them or that they witness. CSA training is required.

Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended. Applicants who reach the final stages of the application process must also sign a release form that authorizes the release of information by the applicant’s current and/or former employers to the CSU concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct.

This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

Notice of Availability of the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR)
In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the AFSR is also available at https://hr.fullerton.edu/risk-management/clery-act/.
