Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. This is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2027, with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if funds and/or program needs exist.

Department

The Division of Information Technology (IT) strives to be a strategic, innovative, and best‐in‐class IT organization that provides a leading‐edge technology environment for students, faculty, and staff to advance the University’s mission, vision, and goals. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our IT-Student Technology Services team as the Technology Support Specialist I. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Centrally managed by the Division of Information Technology and locally directed by the department of TitanHEALTH, the Technology Support Specialist I (TSS I) provides entry-level technical support for hardware and software, computer deployment and maintenance, desktop systems, and related technology services for TitanHEALTH and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). The TSS I assists TitanHEALTH/CAPS staff with troubleshooting, system setup, equipment installation, and basic technical support to ensure the effective operation of TitanHEALTH and CAPS technology resources and data security.

The TSS I provides support for a variety of systems and applications, including Point N Click (PNC), Clinisys, Windows, and Mac environments; monitors the help desk ticketing system and responds to entry-level support requests in a timely and professional manner; provides support for IT-supported software, cloud-based applications, and services; ensures work stations, exam rooms, pharmacy/lab/x-ray, conference rooms, and all other spaces in TitanHEALTH and CAPS are properly configured and operational. Tests and evaluates new technologies and applications for alignment with operational and security needs;  runs reporting features of operational applications and systems and creates reports as needed; provides practical solutions to a variety of user technical issues; provides training and 1:1 user support with the use of technical equipment; configures laptops and other technology devices for use in clinical and administrative functions within TitanHEALTH and CAPS; prepares equipment for deployment and maintains accurate tracking of technology assets. Responds to phone and web-based IT requests; logs and maintains support tickets and tracks follow-up; delivers and installs all technology, including hardware, software, and security features as warranted; in the absence of the Systems Administrator, assist with the coordination of IT student assistants, including task delegation, consultation, and providing feedback on student work; provides timely communication regarding IT and systems related challenges impacting healthcare and mental health services or data security to supervisor and onsite manager. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Relevant education and/or experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Under direct supervision, performs entry-level professional technology support duties to ensure efficient use and access of technology and information systems. Provides customer service and support to campus users and troubleshoots problems. Recognizes and analyzes trends. Performs basic technology updates and tasks following defined procedures. Project work is reviewed for understanding of professional concepts and compliance with policies and procedures. General knowledge of information technology systems, applications, and networks. General knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting and related technology support practices. Organizational and time management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize work. Attention to detail and accuracy. Analytical skills to collect and analyze information and troubleshoot problems. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills to work with students, faculty, and staff to obtain pertinent information, communicate technical information to diverse audiences, and document issues and resolutions. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information. Ability to work independently and as part of a team as well as build relationships with diverse stakeholders. Computer skills to appropriately respond to IT complaints and issues.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

This report contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for California State University, Fullerton for the last three (3) calendar years. Paper copies are available upon request at the CSUF Police Department.

In addition, pursuant to the Higher Education Opportunity Act, the Annual Fire Safety Report (AFSR) is also available for viewing.
