About the Position: 

The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) and fits within the overall mission of the University. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Athletic Equipment Attendant. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Athletic Equipment Attendant is responsible for the overall oversight, maintenance, and coordination of the Athletic Equipment Room and the University’s athletics equipment. Also responsible for the oversight and coordination of equipment and apparel needs for 18+ intercollegiate sport programs covering approximately 400+ student-athletes and 60+ coaches. The Athletic Equipment Attendant must be knowledgeable and abide by University, NCAA, and Big West Rules and Regulations pertaining to uniforms and equipment. The Athletic Equipment Attendant will oversee graduate and student assistants, schedule hours and work assignments. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

One year of experience which would provide adequate training for supervising the equipment and supply services in a college athletic program. General knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in competitive sports and in physical education classes; working knowledge of proper methods of storing equipment; working knowledge of preservatives and cleaning materials and techniques used in maintaining athletic equipment. Ability to compare names and numbers rapidly and accurately; ability to take inventory and maintain various types of records; ability to maintain and perform minor repairs of athletic equipment and clothes; ability to supervise and work with assistants; ability to give routine first aid; ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with oversight of an NCAA Division I athletic equipment room. Experience in training and oversight of student employees. Knowledge of University rules and regulations related to safety and working with on and off campus partners. Must maintain knowledge of and compliance with relevant NCAA and conference rules, and report any concerns or violations noted.

License/Certifications

A valid California driver's license.

Must be certified by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (or must be within the first 6 months of employment).
