Job Summary 

This position  encompasses all aspects of event management, including, but not limited to, intake processes, budget management, logistics, communications, and coordinating website update.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Analyst for University Commencement: Collaborate with the Director and Assistant Director to design comprehensive project timelines and communication strategies for Commencement, using data to track progress and identify potential bottlenecks.
  • Event Analyst for University Events team: Using interpersonal and negotiation skills to expedite projects, applying university policies, and overseeing the University Events intake process.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Ability to work with a variety of offices and individuals in planning, coordinating, and implementing complex university events. Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced, hectic, high-profile environment. Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work under pressure with constant interruptions.  Familiarity with University fiscal procedures. Ability to interact positively with staff and on- and off-campus vendors. Thorough knowledge of various computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Drupal, Adobe Photoshop, ln Design, Contribute, etc.) and other office equipment. Ability to efficiently and accurately track and complete paperwork. Ability to track and complete multiple short-term and long-term projects that require a high degree of analysis and accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Ability to identify and resolve problems independently, to learn new processes and procedures, and take a proactive approach to process improvement.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience required.
  • Occasional evenings, weekends, and ability to access off-site event.

Physical Summary

Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

Licenses

Valid CA Driver's License preferred.

Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on University business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,598 - $6,126. per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,598- $8,318 per month.

Time Base

1.0  time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
