Job Summary

Provide production expertise for all theatrical systems, processes and labor for CPAC performances and events.  Primarily responsibility to serve as Production Lead for all CPAC events and shares production responsibilities of some leased events.  Help manage the maintenance of the Center and all equipment therein.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Production Lead for all CPAC events as well as some University and leased events - Prepare schedules, estimates (including labor, equipment rental & supply purchases), final settlements, ordering all necessary equipment & supplies, supervise crews for load-in, rehearsal, performance, strike and restore.
  • Oversee production crew and prepare payroll for on-call staffing - Oversee all on stage aspects of the advanced CPAC Season, University & leased productions from load-in, rehearsal, performance(s), load-out to restore.  This includes all artist/client needs, schedule, on-call labor and safety. Supervise and train on-call pool of stage technicians as needed.
  • Responsible for inventorying, maintaining, repair and/or overseeing the repair of all theatrical equipment, including, but not limited to the following: lighting consoles, dimmers, lighting instruments, cables, flyrail equipment & systems, staging equipment, rigging equipment, tools, etc.
  • Cultivate and maintain vendor relations - Identify companies that can provide needed equipment or services to support our productions and organization. Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with identified companies.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate is highly proficient in all technical aspects of theatre production including lighting, rigging, audio, and carpentry and possesses comprehensive expertise in video projection and presentation. They are capable of performing the duties of any technical theatre personnel and have a strong working knowledge of computers, accessories, and commonly used software such as word processing and spreadsheet programs. Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential. This candidate communicates effectively with culturally and ethnically diverse groups, demonstrates a strong commitment to customer service, and consistently maintains a safe and professional work environment.

Education and Experience

•Equivalent to 24 semester units of related college coursework and two years of related professional or technical experience required.

Preferred:

• Equivalent of 2 years theatrical production experience in operating, maintaining, purchasing, and constructing theatrical equipment and materials.

  • Heavy work - Job involves lifting more than 40 pounds. Approximately half of the incumbent's time will be spent walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, or climbing.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $4,116 - $7,448 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $4,116 - $5,670 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment

This is a temporary position for 1 year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
