Job Summary

The URD Talent Acquisition & Engagement Specialist enhances the employee experience across the Division of University Relations and Development (URD) by leading staff engagement programs, coordinating professional development opportunities, and managing full-cycle recruitment. The specialist proactively sources candidates, builds diverse talent pipelines, and partners with managers to align hiring with workforce needs. Working closely with the HR Services Manager, the role fosters connection, recognition, and belonging while supporting employee growth and advancing URD’s mission and culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Staff Engagement & Culture: Lead initiatives that strengthen belonging, recognition, and team connection. Plan and facilitate quarterly all-staff meetings, develop inclusive engagement strategies for in-person, hybrid, and remote staff, and promote campus-wide opportunities.
  • Learning & Development: Partner with subject matter experts, trainers, and vendors to design and deliver training programs that meet staff needs.
  • Recruitment & Talent Sourcing: Lead full-cycle recruitment by sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates while building strong talent pipelines.
  • Onboarding & Program Coordination: Coordinate onboarding plans that guide new hires through their first 90 days. Facilitate integration, provide role-specific training, and track progress to ensure compliance, engagement, and long-term success.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage candidates, build relationships with staff, and collaborate effectively with supervisors and campus partners
  • Project management abilities to coordinate multiple recruitment, onboarding, and engagement initiatives, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met
  • Training, design, and facilitation skills to create and deliver learning programs that support onboarding, professional development, and staff engagement
  • Talent sourcing expertise to proactively build a diverse candidate pipeline and meet division-wide recruitment goals
  • Proficiency with HR systems and applicant tracking tools to efficiently manage candidate data and onboarding documentation.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate recruitment and training effectiveness and guide improvements.
  • Problem-solving skills and adaptability in a changing work environment.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, communications, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and three years of related experience required.

• Two years of experience in recruitment, onboarding, staff engagement, or related HR functions preferred.

Physical Summary

Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $5,274 (Step 1) - $7,684 (Step 20) per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.  May be required to work evenings or weekends to attend related events.

Duration of Appointment  

This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
