Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Academic Employee and Labor Relations, this position administers Leave of Absence (LOA) and ADA programs for Faculty/Unit 3, Unit 11, and Academic Administrators, including coordinating and processing Academic Personal and Professional Leaves in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements. The role serves as the lead and subject‑matter expert for academic ADA accommodations, conducting the interactive process and collaborating with Department Chairs and Academic Affairs administrators to implement reasonable accommodations compliant with ADA guidelines. This position also functions as the primary point of contact for inquiries related to LOAs, ADA accommodations, CSUFML policy, and CBA leave provisions, and provides support to the Director on matters involving LOAs, accommodations, grievances, workplace investigations, and drafting progressive discipline letters.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees and processes paid and unpaid Leave of Absence Programs in accordance with CBA, CSU FML policies and other related polices covering LOA programs.
  • Serves as the ADA Accommodations lead point of contact and expert, conducts interactive process meetings and works with faculty/unit 3, unit 11 employees and Deans and Associate Deans, Department Chairs to find reasonable accommodations.
  • Provides support to the Associate Vice President of Faculty Affairs, Director of Academic Employee Relations on Employee Relations matters that involve LOA or accommodations. Conducts investigations on matters involving LOA and accommodations, provides reports to the Director of Academic Employee and Labor Relations.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

  • Hiring Range: The hiring range for this position is $6,907 - $7,500 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate possesses thorough knowledge of general human resources practices, campus policies, and leave‑related laws including FMLA, CFRA, and other applicable regulations, along with a solid understanding of ADA workplace accommodations. They demonstrate strong organizational, project management, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and respond promptly to requests for guidance. Experience with HR enterprise systems such as PeopleSoft is essential, as is the ability to read and interpret collective bargaining agreements to ensure program compliance and properly resolve or escalate issues. The candidate excels in both written and verbal communication, using strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills to produce clear training, guides, and employee or manager communications. They are detail‑oriented, able to prioritize effectively, and consistently follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines, including those related to safety, civility, and information practices.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.  Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.  Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."


Education and Experience

• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree and four years of progressively responsible HR experience, specifically in the areas of leave administration, ADA accommodations, and employee and labor relations preferably in an academic setting.

Physical Summary

Additional Information
