DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
The California State University Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) Library invites applications for the temporary, part-time position of Senior Assistant Librarian to teach a credit-bearing course in information literacy.

ABOUT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY MARITIME ACADEMY (Cal Maritime): Located on a compact but scenic waterfront campus in Vallejo, California (30 miles northeast of San Francisco), California State University Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) is a unique and specialized campus of the 23-campus system. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is a non-tenure-track position in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
The primary responsibility of this position is to teach one section of a credit-bearing information literacy course required for freshman and sophomore engineering technology students. The successful candidate will be the instructor of record responsible for assessment of student learning and the assignment of grades. This course meets for two 50-minute sessions per week in-person on the Cal Maritime campus in Vallejo, CA. This assignment also includes one hour a week for office hours.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- An MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent
- Demonstrated understanding of the ACRL Information Literacy Standards and Framework
- Successful teaching experience
- Experience with information resources used in academic libraries
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least three years of experience teaching information literacy at the post-secondary level
- Experience with engineering information resources used in academic libraries
- Interest in or knowledge of maritime history, industry, and subjects
SALARY COMPENSATION:

The anticipated hiring range is commensurate with the education and experience of the selected individual. The anticipated hiring range for full-time will be $7,127 (Senior Assistant Librarian) per month, prorated based on unit load (WTU)
- The CSU Salary range for this classification: Senior Assistant Librarian: $7,127 - $15,211 per month
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Typical classroom and office environment are in a two-story building with elevator access.
