Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, the Accounting Specialist will:  1) account for grants, 2) accounts payable processing, 3) provide payroll support, 4) maintain various financial databases, 5) account for accruals & amortizations, 6) perform reconciliations, 7) create worksheet tools, 8) create and submit grant invoices, reconcile and ensure payment 9) liaise and travel between various office locations within San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys, 8) provide back-up for other fiscal department functions, 9) facilitate grant submission processes including completion and timely submission of University documents, 10) provide support for facilities and operations departments. 11) Performs administrative tasks and other duties as assigned (i.e., helps to coordinate day-to-day office operations [i.e., phones, mail, correspondence, office opening and closing], assists with the implementation of office policies and procedures and helps maintain productive office workflow [i.e., posts office protocol, directs operational problems to the correct individual].

 

Qualifications:

An Associate’s degree with concentration in Accounting or Finance and at least one year experience in an office environment is preferred, but not required. Experience in Microsoft Excel, any accounting software, and non-profit regulations is a plus. The candidate must be self-sufficient with minimum supervision required, able to maintain confidentiality, a team-player, ready and willing to take on challenges that may arise. Criminal background clearance, California driver’s license, automobile and automobile insurance required.

Must be trainable, willing to learn, and have strong work ethics; have strong organizational skills, and attention to detail and accuracy, with minimum supervision required. Must always maintain discretion and professionalism. Must be able to create reports, spreadsheets, and analyze financial data. Must be a team player and able to contribute to a positive team environment and maintain cooperative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Must have the ability to work independently in a busy environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities; communicate effectively, in English, in oral and written form; work well with persons of varying economic levels, cultures, ethnicities and lifestyles; and operate standard office machines.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 am- 5 pm

Full Pay range: $19.71 - $25.24

The anticipated hiring range: $19.71 - $25.24

Time Base: Full-Time
