Duties and Responsibilities:

The Center for Geospatial Science and Technology at California State University, Northridge is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant. More information about the Center can be found on our website at: https://www.csun.edu/cgst

This position supports the general administrative functions of the Center and does not require an understanding of geospatial science and technology. Responsibilities include reviewing timesheets, monitoring student intern schedules, answering phones, greeting/referring/assisting visitors, scheduling meetings, organizing and maintaining information and documentation, updating the Center website, posting to Center social media accounts, managing Center supplies; managing the Center email account and communicating with Center staff and students.  Works closely with the Center Administrative Support Coordinator, Center Director and Managers, fulfills other duties as assigned, and provides general office support.

 

Qualifications:

Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Must have a thorough knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Must have the ability and specialized skills to organize, coordinate, and prioritize multiple tasks; keep moderately complex records and files; work independently in a busy environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities; communicate effectively in oral and written form; maintain cooperative working relationships with others; be team oriented; diplomatic, pleasant, professional, collaborative demeanor; have excellent computer skills and operate standard office machines, computers, and software such as Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.

 

REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Experience with taking notes and developing and maintaining documentation;
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and tasks; and
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc;

 

DESIRED Qualifications:

  • Experience in paid administrative support position;
  • Social Media management; and
  • Website development

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office setting on the CSUN campus with a low-to-moderate noise level; employee must regularly communicate by telephone, email, other written communications and in-person with staff, other professionals; occasionally lift, carry and position objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Limited remote work may be accommodated.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

The anticipated hiring range: $17 - $19/hour

Full Pay range: $16.85 - $24.80/hour

Time Base: Part-Time
