Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Financial Aid Representative plays a pivotal role in ensuring students receive timely and accurate information about financial aid processes. In this position, you will interact directly with students, process critical documentation, and support departmental operations while maintaining excellent service standards.
- Provides excellent customer service in a positive and calm manner at the counter and telephone in a high-volume, high-profile office.
- Responds to student email and Chatbot inquiries on a daily basis in a high-volume, high-profile office.
- Reviews intake documents for accurate completion and adherence to Federal, State, Chancellor's Office, and CSUN regulations.
- Attends staff meetings where new policies, procedures, and forms are interpreted, clarified, or developed to meet newly identified needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Equivalent to four (4) years of full-time, general office clerical and administrative support experience that has provided the applicant with the knowledge and abilities listed.
- Equivalent to full-time college or university education/vocational school training in business or job-related field may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year for year basis.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Ability to provide excellent customer service in a high-volume, high-profile environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor. Skilled in active listening, interpreting student needs, and clearly explaining complex financial aid rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of Federal and State financial aid laws and regulations with the ability to independently analyze applications, clarify ambiguous rules, and apply sound judgment in resolving issues. Strong skills in reviewing documents for accuracy, assessing unique circumstances, and advising students on next steps and eligibility outcomes.
- Ability to guide students through electronic financial aid applications, online platforms, and related systems. Skilled in navigating digital resources, troubleshooting issues, and instructing students on accessing information and services using current technology.
- Demonstrated skill in reviewing, verifying, and processing financial aid documentation with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, or missing information and ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, and institutional requirements.
- Ability to recognize and respond to unique student circumstances by recommending appropriate resources or referrals. Skilled in collaborating with colleagues, consulting with the Customer Service Lead when needed, and following through on commitments to ensure timely and accurate resolution of student concerns.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- Classification: Administrative Support Coordinator / 1035 / 1
- The anticipated HIRING RATE is $3864 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $3864 - $6072 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
- The position is currently hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
