Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Facilities Worker II independently handles a wide variety of maintenance tasks, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical work. The position also involves responding to service calls, routine maintenance, equipment upkeep, and utilizing motor vehicles for campus deliveries.

  • Installs, adjusts and repairs walls, flooring and door hardware; installs venetian blinds, fasteners, shelving and fixtures.
  • Performs patching, sanding, masking, mudding, taping, painting and clean-up, and minor repairs in response to service calls on facilities, fixtures and appliances.
  • Installs faucets, flush valves and other basic plumbing devices; runs DWV and other piping, solders pipe and clears drains.
  • Performs preventative maintenance service on HVAC equipment (i.e., replacing filters, lubricating bearings, adjusting belts, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to three years of full-time, progressively responsible hands-on experience in general facilities and systems maintenance and repair or comparable experience as a trades assistant or laborer with demonstrated proficiency in the required duties. 
  • LICENSE: CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER’S LICENSE

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to independently perform installation, adjustments, and repairs of walls, flooring, door hardware, venetian blinds, shelving, fixtures, windows, and basic formwork; skillfully executes concrete repairs, including patching, sanding, masking, setting, and pouring.
  • Skilled in patching, sanding, masking, mudding, taping, painting, VCT tile and carpet installations, and flooring repairs; ability to safely perform power washing and athletic field striping, maintain meticulous job site cleanliness, utilize computerized maintenance management systems, and proactively recommend preventive maintenance solutions.
  • Proficiency in the safe operation and maintenance of tools and equipment, including automated field stripers, power washers, and various hand and power tools; consistently adheres to established safety protocols, promptly reports hazards, and ensures job sites are orderly and secure.
  • Ability to accurately maintain detailed daily work records through computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), effectively communicate recommendations for preventive maintenance, and coordinate activities to maintain cleanliness and safety standards during progressive and routine project tasks.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Classification: Facilities Worker II/6251/1
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $4760 - $5919 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $4760 - $6665 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.  
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
