Major Duties
Working independently under the general supervision of the Senior Director, the Research Analyst/Data Consultant leads complex institutional research projects to support data-informed in decision-making and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborates with campus constituencies to identify data and reporting needs and define the scope, purpose, and parameters of routine as well as complex ad-hoc data requests. Independently identifies appropriate data sources and applies advanced statistical and other analytic methods to prepare tailored reports and summaries that translate findings into clear, actionable insights for a variety of audiences in support of institutional decision-making and external reporting requirements.
- Conceptualizes, designs, develops, and maintains advanced data visualizations, dashboards, and interactive reporting tools within the university’s business intelligence and data visualization environment (e.g., Tableau). Identifies and works with relevant datasets to ensure dashboards effectively communicate institutional metrics to inform planning, policy development, and decision making.
- In collaboration with IR leadership, initiates, conceptualizes, and conducts analyses – ranging from descriptive to inferential – to evaluate the implementation or impact of institutional practices, initiatives, and programs. Selects appropriate methods, ensures analytical rigor, and presents results in formats tailored to diverse campus constituencies.

Qualifications
- Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience. Additional experience that demonstrates acquired, relevant, and successfully applied knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field (social sciences, economics, statistics, or public or business administration preferred.) may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Experience with working with a variety of campus audiences, including faculty, administrators, and staff, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to plan studies and investigations, including independently identifying appropriate data sources, determining relevant variables, and applying relevant quantitative and statistical methods to produce accurate, insightful, and actionable reports that inform institutional decision-making and meet external reporting standards.
- Thorough knowledge of social science research methods and statistical principles and procedures, especially those related to quantitative data and research.
- Demonstrated ability to design and conduct complex statistical and evaluative analyses, including selecting appropriate quantitative methods and presenting results in accessible formats that support planning, policy development, and institutional initiatives and programs.
- Knowledge of best practices in business intelligence and data visualization principles, with demonstrated ability to conceptualize, design, and develop effective dashboards and data visualizations in Tableau or similar BI platforms.
- Strong writing skills.
- Ability to: reason logically and creatively on research problems; handle and analyze a large variety of detailed data; maintain cooperative working relationships; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- Classification: 0445 / Institutional Research Analyst III / 1
- The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $5797 - $6274 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5797 - $8445 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
- The position is currently hybrid ( 4 days/week in office, 1 day/week remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
