Overview: Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Finance Manager will oversee the day-to-day fiscal operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with all financial policies and procedures. The Finance Manager will play a key role in grant financial management, budget development, forecasting, and financial reporting, while supervising accounting staff to maintain accurate financial records and controls.

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties as assigned):  Manage the organization's accounting operations, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance. Oversee grant financial management, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local grant requirements. Develop and implement cost accounting procedures to track program expenses across multiple funding sources. Prepare monthly financial reports (to include profit and loss statements), grant billing reports, and financial analyses for leadership team and funding agencies (to include reconciliation with funders and projections for internal leadership). Assist in budget development and monitoring for programs and grants. Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and specific grant audits. Supervise accounting staff and provide training on financial procedures and systems. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to grantors and other stakeholders. Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to safeguard organizational assets. Monitor cash flow and assist with forecasting financial needs. Collaborate with program directors to ensure proper financial management of program resources. Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations affecting grant management. Collaborate with the University in the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all A-133, CSU and contracting agency audits are resolved and all compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with federal, state and other required supplementary schedules and information. 

 

Qualifications:   

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred. Experience working in nonprofit accounting required. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role. Demonstrated experience with grant administration and management, particularly federal, state, and local grants. Proficiency in cost accounting and allocation methodologies. Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting. Experience with financial forecasting and budget development. Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and accounting software.

 

Knowledge, Specialized Skills, and Abilities: Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local grant requirements, including OMB Circulars and Uniform Guidance. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of financial information. Strong leadership abilities and experience supervising accounting staff. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels. Solution-oriented approach to problem-solving. Commitment to the organization's mission, vision, and values. Ability to work collaboratively in an ethnically, linguistically, and culturally diverse environment. Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

This position is employed through The University Corporation (TUC).

The anticipated hiring range: $80,000-$100,000/year

 Time Base: Full Time
