Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Warehouse Worker handles the unloading, unpacking, and distribution of incoming shipments and campus mail. The incumbent’s responsibilities include tracking mail, maintaining inventory accuracy, and following safety and policy standards to ensure efficient service delivery and seamless operations throughout the Postal and Delivery Services.
- Receives incoming truck and parcel goods shipments utilizing a wide variety of powered and non-powered material handling equipment.
- Performs intercampus moves and processes surplus equipment and materials for disposal.
- Checks incoming material against packing slips or bills of lading to verify correctness, condition, and quantity.
- Prepares small freight items for shipment.
- Enters receipts into the University’s computerized materials system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- One year of experience assisting in the receipt, storage, or issuance of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse, including some experience in the operation of forklift trucks or similar power-operated materials handling equipment.
- LICENSE: CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER’S LICENSE.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Skill in safely operating a variety of powered and non-powered material handling equipment, including trucks, vans, carts, and forklifts, to effectively load, unload, and transport diverse goods shipments.
- Knowledge of specialized handling methods required for safely managing and transporting fragile, toxic, flammable, radioactive, and short-shelf-life materials, along with the ability to process intercampus moves and surplus equipment disposals efficiently.
- Ability to accurately process and distribute mail and parcels, effectively handle inquiries regarding postal regulations, track accountable shipments, and prepare outgoing mail for delivery through various shipping methods.
- Skill in verifying shipment accuracy against packing documentation, resolving discrepancies through clear vendor communication, maintaining accurate inventory records, and efficiently preparing materials for delivery through palletizing, banding, labeling, and manual assembly techniques.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- The anticipated HIRING RANGE is $3461 – $3898 per month, dependent on qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3461 - $4752 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. May include evenings and weekends.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
- The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
