Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Videographer operates video cameras and cutting-edge equipment to create vibrant, professional multimedia content at The Soraya. The incumbent collaborates closely with the Creative Content Manager to produce visually captivating storytelling through filming and editing, enhancing audience engagement with polished and dynamic visual experiences.

  • Attends performances and utilizes The Soraya’s equipment to record content.
  • Captures B-Roll videos of behind-the-scenes footage (e.g. Pre/post show receptions, artist meet-and-greets, etc.) for Soraya marketing purposes.
  • Reviews, edits, and assembles recorded raw material to a suitable and cohesive product.
  • Consults with the Creative Content Manager throughout the production process to ensure final cuts match the content brief.
  • Evaluates and selects appropriate video and streaming technologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field.
  • Equivalent to 6 months of full-time experience in multimedia production (still and motion picture photography).
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Knowledge of videography principles, camera operation, composition, lighting, and audio capture techniques, with the ability to record high-quality content in a variety of live performance environments, including dance, music, theatre, and special events.
  • Skill in capturing compelling visual storytelling through performance footage and B-roll content, with the ability to identify and document meaningful moments, behind-the-scenes activities, and audience engagement opportunities that support marketing and promotional objectives.
  • Knowledge of non-linear video editing software, post-production workflows, and digital content distribution platforms, with the ability to review, edit, and assemble raw footage into polished, audience-focused content that aligns with project objectives and creative briefs.
  • Skill in live video production and streaming technologies, with the ability to troubleshoot and adjust audio and video quality in real time, evaluate appropriate broadcast solutions, and deliver seamless live-streamed programming across a variety of performing arts settings.

 

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Classification: 0810 / Media Production Specialist / 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RATE is $26.37 per hour. The salary range for this classification is: $26.37 - $38.41 per hour.
  • HOURS: Intermittent, on-call; hours and schedule vary.
  • This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
