THE DEPARTMENT:
The Bronco Leadership Center is dedicated to empowering students to achieve success by actively participating in co-curricular engagement, leadership development, and various campus-wide events, initiatives, and programs. Acknowledging the positive impact of student involvement on academic performance, persistence, and an increased sense of belonging, the office strives to engage our diverse student population through intentional and transformative culturally relevant programs, services, and events. Bronco Leadership Center are strong advocates for students and desire to equip them with co-curricular experiences that encourage self-discovery as part of their student journey and prepare them for life after college.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fraternity and Sorority Life Administration and Coordination
- Provide guidance, organization, and oversight to the Fraternity & Sorority Life community, including all governing councils and executive boards (Multicultural Greek Council, National Panhellenic Conference, National Pan-Hellenic Council, interfraternity Council, Greek Council)
- Serve as an advisor to FSL student groups
- Support recruiting, selecting, training, and evaluating an assistant coordinator, undergraduate employees, and volunteers.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with fraternity and sorority community constituents, including inter/national headquarters staff, local advisory leadership, the neighborhood/community, faculty/staff advisors, and alums
- Coordinate eligibility verification, analysis, and improvement initiatives
- Coordinate the formal and informal recruitment and membership intake processes for Fraternity and Sorority organizations.
- Adjudicate Fraternity and Sorority organizations conduct cases in conjunction with the Office of Student Conduct & Integrity.
- Update annually the Fraternity and Sorority Life handbook to include up-to-date reporting requirements, compliance guidance, campus resources, and guidelines.
- Facilitate leadership development opportunities and officer transition programs for the fraternity and sorority communities. Facilitate expansion process and establishment of new social Fraternity and Sorority organizations.
- Counsel and advise students on interpersonal, academic, career interests, and identity development concerns. Refer, and connect students to appropriate services for additional guidance, support, or intervention.
- Maintain thorough knowledge, interpretation, and enforcement of state, university, division, and departmental policies and procedures related to the mission and goals of Fraternity & Sorority Life and Student Life.
- Work closely with organization advisors, provide regular training and updates to help advisors work more effectively with their groups, and assess gaps to provide future training.
- Advise student organizations as needed. Serve as a liaison to student organizations and assist them with program development, planning, and implementation.
- Attend and advise organization recruitment events.
- Support fundraising opportunities for the Fraternity & Sorority Life community, and work with University Advancement on fundraising opportunities.
Student Leadership Development
- Work with students one-on-one to help them develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that lead to success.
- Develop and facilitate year-round programs, workshops, and activities around Leadership for all student leaders engaged in Clubs and Organizations; topics should include but are not limited to leadership, community building, conflict management alcohol education, intrapersonal skills, hazing, risk management, academic success, time management, etc.
- Serve as an advisor to other clubs and organizations
- Assists with developing programs offered by the Bronco Leadership Center, Student Experience cluster, the Division of Student Affairs, and other University constituents that affect all students' well-being.
- Assesses leadership workshop and overall curriculum effectiveness, creates plans for yearly improvement
- Assists with the Bronco Leadership Fund, meets with students around fund application and reimbursement processes
- Assist with the planning and execution of an annual leadership conference, including leadership recognition and awards
Compliance
- Serves on the departmental exemption team; ensure all organizations comply with Executive Order Student Activities (EO 1068) and Administration of Student Organization Funds (ICSUAM 03141.01).
- Train student organizational leaders on university compliance policies regarding budgets, student administrative policies, programming guidelines, and best practices.
- Work with all clubs and organizations to update their rosters on a bi-annual basis, and monthly for Fraternity and Sorority Life organizations
- Works closely with the Wellness Center, Office of Equity and Inclusion, and Student Conduct and Integrity to ensure yearly trainings on alcohol and other drugs, anti-hazing and Title IX.
- Generate student data and end-of-year reports detailing Greek grade point averages, recruitment, and membership statistics.
- Conduct regular and ongoing assessments of programs and services to ensure that the work aligns with the university and divisional strategic plans, meets the campus community's needs, and communicates the impact story.
- Coordinate data collection processes for compliance, especially around the Postsecondary education: Campus-Recognized Sorority and Fraternity Transparency Act. (2021-2022, AB 524), Campus Safety and Anti-Hazing Acts.
- Provide sound fiscal administration of the programming budget, including State, ASI, Foundation, and grant funds. Responsible for the annual budget projections.
Outreach & Marketing
- Stays connected to the CSU-wide Fraternity and Sorority Life group, regarding best praxis, resources, and current trends
- Is responsible for developing the story of student leadership to share with entire campus, highlighting student success stories.
- Network with campus departments to conduct programs to outreach and inform the campus community on trends and issues related to CPP students and the community.
- Responsible for developing and producing marketing materials for the Fraternity & Sorority Life community, including brochures, website, and social media to promote the mission and purpose of the departmental area programs, services, and events.
Various Departmental Duties
- Serve as a contributing member to departmental and campus-wide committees, programs, and initiatives that align with the mission of the Bronco Leadership Center.
- Attends and participates in all staff meetings, retreats, and training for the Bronco Leadership Center, the Student Experience cluster, and the Division of Student Affairs as assigned.
- Serve as a campus protest monitor as needed.
- Involvement in professional organizations that support the work of SELS.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree - Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related.
- Driver License, Valid and in State Valid CA Driver's license with insurance.
- Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required. A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior. General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the Student Services field as well as general knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices of the program area to which assigned; general knowledge of individual counseling techniques; general knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge, of the organizational procedures and activities of the specific campus to which the position is assigned. Working knowledge of student services programs outside the program to which immediately assigned. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action; advise students individually and in groups on complex student‑related matters; determine appropriate courses of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals in personal interactions of an argumentative or sensitive nature; interpret and evaluate descriptions and explanations of problems brought forward by individuals or student organizations, analyze and define the problem, draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative courses of action; carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments without detailed instructions; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree preferred. Three years of progressively responsible professional student affairs work experience and advising student clubs and organizations, preferably supporting fraternities and sororities.
- Experience with student engagement platforms, social media, and student information systems.
- Ability to understand complex policies and procedures and explain them in simple terms. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational and collaborative skills, and effective time management.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a coordinated team.
- Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt practical courses of action. Advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters.

CSU Classification Salary Range
This position is part of the APC bargaining unit 4. The CSU Classification Standards for this position are located on the CSU Classification Standards website. The CSU Salary Schedule is located on the CSU Salary Schedule website. The classification salary range for this position according to the respective skill level is: minimum $5,540 and maximum $7,893 per month. University Driving Requirement
Positions that require driving for university business by using a personal or state vehicle must comply with the Authorized University Driver Policy. Driving records are monitored and evaluated by the Risk Management Department. The Risk Management Department evaluates a good driving report based on the following criteria. The driver must: 1. Have a valid California or other State Driver’s license. 2. Have no more than 3 motor vehicle violations or been the cause of 3 accidents in a 12-month period (or any combination of 3 thereof) 3. Not have more than 3 DMV Points, if their license is Class C or, 4. Not have more than 5 DMV Points, if their license is Class A, B, or C with endorsements.
