Minimum Qualifications
Under the general direction of the Chairs of the Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) and Nutrition, Food and Dietetics (NUFD) Departments, the Instructional Support Assistant (ISA) II is responsible for comprehensive support services for the FACS and NUFD Departments’ instructional programs. The ISA works closely with the Department Chairs, Administrative Support Coordinators (ASC) II, faculty and students in both departments to carry out the position responsibilities. Support services include securing supplies, technical materials, and equipment for laboratory and activity courses; coordinating routine maintenance and service of equipment; coordinating computer and instructional technology needs; and maintaining safe and sanitary instructional facilities. The ISA’s responsibilities include coordinating equipment allocations and maintaining the budget for lab supplies and equipment, including evaluating equipment and obtaining equipment specifications; maintaining supply and equipment inventories and maintenance schedules; submitting requisitions for supplies and equipment; and receiving, storing, and inventorying these items.
The ISA II provides general office support to ASC IIs, including reception duties. The ISA is the webmaster of the departments. The ISA carries out responsibilities in accordance with department, college, and university policies and procedures.
Knowledges and Abilities:
Knowledge of the procedures and practices relating to providing support services. Knowledge of procedures and practices related to ordering, issue, and inventory.
Ability to learn quickly the names, uses and care of common types of materials, supplies, and equipment used in the instructional program to which assigned. Ability to plan, organize, and follow a schedule of activities. Ability to learn to operate equipment and to make adjustments. Ability to maintain records and project needs. Ability to correct and perform simple arithmetic calculations. Ability to read and write at a level suitable for performance on the job.
and Experience:
Equivalent to one year of experience performing support services for an instructional program and involving such activities as preparing, producing, dispensing or storing materials, supplies, and equipment.
or
Equivalent to one year of experience in ordering, purchasing, accounting or in office work related to technical materials, supplies, or equipment or in an office which provided similar services to a technical function or unit may be substituted for six months of the experience.
or
Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials. supplies, or equipment and in a discipline in the specialty area to which assigned.

- Ability to use Common Management Systems (CMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to organize and maintain scheduled check out and return of equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment operation and perform basic maintenance.
- Willingness and ability to research and learn new equipment.
- Ability to maintain and update an inventory of equipment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others including faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to work independently and work toward defined priorities.
