Position Title: Lecturer Faculty (Part-time)

Start date: Fall 2023 or as needed

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The CSU provides generous health, retirement and other benefits.

Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 – $6,056 per month
Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 – $11,994 per month 
Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 – $13,172 per month
Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 – $13,797 per month

Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

Summary of Assignment
The teaching assignment is in the Department of Marketing at San Francisco State University.  The Department of Marketing faculty provide instruction in the areas of advertising, retailing, sales management, digital marketing, marketing analytics, marketing research, public relations, personal selling, business to business marketing, sales promotion, consumer behavior, services marketing, organizational reputation management and communication, brand management, new product management, and international marketing management.

The assignment is to teach one or more of the following classes in the Lam Family College of Business:

MKTG 432 Public Relations 

MKTG 433 Personal Selling

MKTG 434 Advertising Theory and Practice 

MKTG 436 Retail Management

MKTG 440 Advertising Creativity and Production

MKTG 441 Business to Business Marketing

MKTG 443 Sales Promotion and Publicity

MKTG 469 Digital Marketing 

MKTG 632 Marketing Research

MKTG 633 Consumer Behavior 

MKTG 637 Sales Management

MKTG 644 Services Marketing

MKTG 647 Organizational Reputation Management and Communication

Lecturer faculty may receive teaching assignments up to full time per the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the California State University and the California Faculty Association.

The SF State College of Business is an AACSB International accredited school, currently enrolling more than 4,000 undergraduates and 400 graduate students with over 100 full-time faculty.  The SFSU campus maintains the third-highest enrollment of international students among master’s degree institutions in the nation and is attended by international students from over 70 nations.  Courses are offered both day and evening, either online or at the University’s main campus and at the Downtown Campus in the heart of San Francisco’s business community.

Essential Job Tasks

-Prepare course materials such as syllabi, visual and audio recordings, readings and assignments, assessments, and other learning resources;

-Prepare and deliver/lead effective lectures, case analyses, simulations, and other engaging learning activities;

-Initiate, moderate, and facilitate inclusive classroom discussions;

-Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, papers, exams, etc. in a timely manner;

-Maintain student grades and other required records or reporting materials;

-Stay current on developments in the discipline by reading professional literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional workshops or conferences;  

-Stay current on effective teaching methods via resources and training offered by SFSU’s Center for Equity and Excellence in Teaching (CEETL);

-Plan, evaluate and revise course content, course materials, and methods of instruction;  

-Hold weekly office hours (at least 1 hour for each course section taught) for the purpose of advising and assisting students.

 

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Abilities

-Graduate (Master's) degree preferred in a field directly related to the topic of instruction. Undergraduate degree with multiple years of related experience and record of increasing responsibility will also be considered;

-Knowledge of principles and methods for the instruction of individuals and groups, and the assessment of learning;

-Planning and organizing skills sufficient to ensure implementation of the assigned curriculum, job duties, and established expectations;

-Oral and written communication skills in the English language at a level that conveys information to and from students, colleagues, and others in an effective manner;

-Awareness of contemporary and critical concerns in the discipline;

-Interpersonal orientation that encourages productive interactions with students and colleagues.
