Lecturer Faculty Pool in Economics
The Department of Economics in the Lam Family College of Business at San Francisco State University invites applications for part-time temporary lecturer faculty positions in 2023-2024. Interested candidates are encouraged to learn more about the department at the website https://cob.sfsu.edu/economics . The vast majority of available teaching assignments are in the lower-division, including:
Econ 101: Principles of Microeconomics
Econ 102: Principles of Macroeconomics
Occasionally, there is also need for instructors to teach upper-division courses such as

Econ 605: History of Economic Thought

Qualifications
Required:
- Master’s degree in Economics
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in Economics is preferred only for teaching upper-division courses (numbered 300 or higher).
- Record of teaching contributions in the areas of undergraduate Economics;
- Demonstrated ability to incorporate inclusion, diversity, and educational equity in teaching;
- Experience working closely with students from historically under-represented communities;
- Record of contributing to collegial, supportive, and collaborative work environments;
Essential Job Tasks
- Prepare course materials such as syllabi, visual and audio recordings, readings and assignments, assessments, and other learning resources;
- Prepare and deliver/lead effective lectures, case analyses, simulations, and other engaging learning activities;
- Initiate, moderate, and facilitate inclusive classroom discussions;
- Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, papers, exams, etc. in a timely manner;
- Maintain student grades and other required records or reporting materials;
- Stay current on developments in the discipline by reading professional literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional workshops or conferences;
- Stay current on effective teaching methods via resources posted in the Teaching Economics Ilearn page and training offered by SFSU’s Center for Equity and Excellence in Teaching (CEETL);
- Plan, evaluate and revise course content, course materials, and methods of instruction;
- Hold weekly office hours (at least 1 hour for each course section taught) for the purpose of advising and assisting students.

Salary
Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $4,530 – $6,056 per month
Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $5,405 – $11,994 per month
Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $6,190 – $13,172 per month
Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent Salary Range: $7,794 – $13,797 per month
Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
