Assistant or Associate Professor of Art, Media, and Design San Marcos
The Art, Media, and Design Department at California State University San Marcos seeks a full-time tenure track candidate whose work is in studio art and hybrid practices. The candidate should have expertise in critical histories and theories of art and representation and engage in research alongside artmaking, which may entail research that crosses into other Art-adjacent disciplines. The candidate should have advanced studio art skills, with experience teaching foundation courses. Candidates should show a record of teaching and working across hybrid practices. The committee defines hybrid practices as an integration of traditional studio art (drawing, printmaking, or sculpture) with emergent practices (installation, social practice, sound design, etc). Candidates with work that contributes to the college and university mission and commitment to sustainability and community-based practice are encouraged to apply.
Lecturer - LING 255: Language Endangerment and Revitalization (Spring 2026) San Marcos
The Department of Liberal Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Spring 2026 to teach LING 255 - Language Endangerment and Revitalization. The course focuses on language endangerment as a worldwide phenomenon, affecting a majority of the world’s languages. It explores contemporary language endangerment and revitalization through an interdisciplinary lens by considering: How do languages become endangered (e.g., genocide, national language policies, diaspora)? What is at stake (e.g., culture, science, identity, sovereignty, and environment)? How and why do various communities respond (e.g., pedagogy, technologies, rhetorics)? The course also considers language endangerment and revitalization around the world.

Candidates must be committed to contributing to an undergraduate-centered, pedagogically innovative, and modern Computer Engineering degree program.
