- 1 temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant position available in Advising & Success Center, Stockton
Temporary hourly-intermittent Work Study/LAEP Peer Advisor position available in the Advising & Success Center, Stockton Campus. Peer Advisors are Stan State students who help students using their own experiences, along with their established connections on campus. The goal of the Peer Advisor Program is to provide academic and support services to students in order to successfully complete their educational goals. The Peer Advisor Program is designed to encourage and support first year and continuing undergraduate students.
- Position available on or after October 1, 2025 and ending on or before May 22, 2025. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.
- Duties include but are not limited to:
- Meet with students individually or in group setting.
- Coordinate and/or facilitate workshops.
- Help students with registration assistance and academic deadlines.
- Help students in reading and understanding Degree Progress Reports.
- Monitor student progress and provide appropriate referral.
- Attend campus functions and serve as representative for program.
- Assist with New Student Orientation (NSO).
- Create social media contact for campus events.
- Attend meetings and respond to emails/voicemails.
- Help students with their transition to college.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Required Qualifications:

Must be at Junior standing (60 completed units) or higher.

Must commit to employment for one year/including summer.

Must be in good academic standing; minimum of 3.0 grade point average.

Must be available to attend Peer Mentor Training. (TBD)

Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion.

Must demonstrate above average creative problem solving, critical thinking, patience, and decision making skills.

Must possess self motivation, a willingness to accept supervision and constructive feedback, and the ability to implement recommendations for improvement as directed.

Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
- Must have received and accepted Financial Aid award for the current semester/year in which you are applying.
