The Staff Accountant provides accounting and financial support in the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) Research Accounting Office. This position supports the timekeeping functions by performing reconciliations, analyzing control reports and taking necessary actions, and serving as a backup to the Timekeeping Specialist. This position supports travel administration by performing reconciliations, analyzing control reports and taking necessary actions, and serving as a backup to the Travel Specialist. This includes performing duties related to all aspects of travel such as auditing travel authorizations and expense reports, booking travel, and answering travel compliance questions. The Staff Accountant will support accounting functions and projects by researching various outstanding items, handling inquiries and information requests, and supporting sponsor audits as well as supporting strategic initiatives.
1. B.S. degree and minimum of three years relevant work experience2. Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate level experience with Microsoft Excel3. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment4. Strong proven analytical problem-solving and excellent organizational skills5. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, accuracy and attention to detail6. Excellent demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work well with others in a diverse organization while maintaining a position attitude 7. Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. person (i.e., a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee).
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance2 Experience with Deltek Costpoint3. Experience with payroll processing4. Experience with travel booking tools 5. Knowledge of the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and GSA policies
