Position Summary:

Are you interested in working for UDRI, a national leader in scientific and engineering research, serving government, industry and nonprofit customers? An immediate opportunity exists for a research scientist/engineer interested in the areas of mathematical modeling and/or numerical simulation of complex flows relevant to high-speed flight. We invite qualified applicants to apply for our Aerothermodynamic Research Engineer opening!

An immediate opportunity exists for a research scientist/engineer interested in the areas of mathematical modeling and/or numerical simulation of complex flows relevant to high-speed flight. Responsibilities include basic research in nonequilibrium energy transfer mechanisms in high temperature gas flows, along with CFD code development. Candidate will be required to interact closely with the US Air Force (USAF) customer and learn / build on their academic and other computational skill set in a niche area that is of high value to the USAF. The position offers both a challenging and an exciting work opportunity in the field of computational aerothermodynamics. The work will be performed at the University of Dayton Research Institute or on site at the Air Force Research Laboratories at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, here in Dayton, OH. Position level (R1 or R2) to depend on accumulated relevant work experience and educational background. Continued employment is contingent on project funding.

Minimum Qualifications:

R1 Level (Associate Research Staff Position):
-A PhD or equivalent degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical) or related fields (Chemical Physics or other)
-PhD research involves computational work relevant to gas flow during high speed flight
-Effective written and verbal communication skills
-Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.

An R2 must meet all R1 minimum qualifications in addition to the qualifications listed below (Research Staff position):
