Position Summary: |
The Interim Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (Associate Dean) is responsible for aspects of the day-to-day internal operations of the School of Law and reports directly to the Interim Dean (Dean.) The Associate Dean, in consultation with the Dean and the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, supervises important educational programs, the LLM/MSL and the Externship Programs. The Associate Dean is responsible for academic matters, including faculty assignments, course scheduling, the development of academic policies and procedures, and must work closely with others on matters affecting students (e.g., character and fitness reporting and advising with the Registrar’s office; work with the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs on professionalism and Honor Council matters). The Associate Dean participates in budget planning along with the Dean, the School of Law’s administrative units, and the Director of Budgets and Operations. As the School of Law seeks to develop new revenue streams not based on J.D. tuition, the Associate Dean will assist the Dean with strategic planning. The Associate Dean also serves as a University liaison, dealing with other administrators effectively and representing the School of Law on select committees. The Associate Dean will engage in other duties from time to time, as assigned by the Dean. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
- Full-time faculty member at the School of Law with tenure or who has been awarded a five-year appointment.
Track record of maintaining confidentiality in student, personnel, and financial matters.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students concerning sensitive personnel and academic matters.
- Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Capacity to problem solve for the School of Law community.
- History of effectively working in cooperation with diverse groups and individuals
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to Catholic Marianist values, and to the University’s Mission on diversity and inclusion.
