Position Summary:

Are you interested in leading the development and design of a new initiative housed within a nationally ranked entrepreneurship program? Would you like to be part of a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem that is home to the largest university-anchored innovation hub in the nation? Would you be excited about the opportunity to train the next generation of entrepreneurs focused on creating ventures for the common good? If so, then the inaugural Herr Venture for Change Director’s role may be for you!

Housed in the University of Dayton's nationally ranked L. William Crotty Center for Entrepreneurship, the Herr Venture for Change Director is a non-tenure track lecturer and administrative position who works with the Executive Director/AVP of Entrepreneurial Initiatives to develop, lead, and grow the new Herr Venture for Change Program. This position will include curriculum design of social entrepreneurship courses, creating and approving an undergraduate certificate in social entrepreneurship, and teaching social entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship, and other management classes. The director will also develop a new, international social entrepreneurship experiential opportunity and work with other student organizations and area social ventures.

Located at The Hub powered by PNC in the historic Dayton Arcade, the Herr Venture for Change Director will be part of Dayton, Ohio's growing and vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem. The Dayton metro area has a population of about 850,000 and is a diverse community with a vibrant downtown, a set of historic neighborhoods, and a highly favorable cost of living. Dayton is noted for its long history of innovation and invention, and this new initiative will add to that history with a groundbreaking program at a leading Catholic university focused on working for the common good.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Master’s Degree in related field
● Three years of entrepreneurial experience in a social venture or nonprofit
● Experience in creating or leading a social venture or nonprofit organization
● Excellent written communication skills
● Teaching, training, and or instructional design experience

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

● PhD, JD, DBA, or terminal degree in related field
● Five years of leadership or supervision experience in nonprofit or entrepreneurial business
● Teaching experience at the collegiate level
● Experience with course development at the collegiate level
● Demonstrated experience working with students inside and outside the classroom
● Experience creating or developing new initiatives in higher education or nonprofit organizations
● Familiarity with the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Dayton region
● Familiarity with Dayton's nonprofit community
● High level of cultural intelligence and an articulated ability to effectively establish cross-cultural relationships across multiple dimensions of diversity, including race, gender, gender identity, cognitive and physical disabilities, class, religious perspectives, and sexual orientation.
● Commitment to the breadth of education, including educating the whole person in the Marianist tradition and a commitment of service to the community, University, and profession
