The Associate Director, Flyer Student Services provides leadership to staff in order to effectively deliver counseling and student services for the integrated functions of financial aid, registrar, student accounts and support for other offices on campus. This individual strategically leads the delivery of service through various communication channels (phone, email, in-person, text, live-chat, etc.)

The Associate Director will be an innovative thinker as the climate surrounding higher education becomes increasingly complex and service needs are ever-changing. This position supports the leadership development for all staff who provide counseling to students and families. This includes training, ongoing support, and goal development that support the division of Enrollment Management’s priorities. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of all service areas of Flyer Student Services, as well as the ability to collaborate with Flyer Student Services Counselors, home office leadership, and liaisons on more complex issues or account updates. This position will build and maintain collaborative partnerships across campus that enhance how services are delivered to students. The Associate Director is expected to use data to continually improve service responsiveness and direct staff activities that support student retention while driving the delivery of equitable service. The Associate Director reports to the Executive Director of Flyer Student Services and is a key member of the FSS leadership team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in related field
Professional staff supervisory experience; minimum of one year
Experience working in a professional customer service setting/operation; minimum three years
Experience working in higher education
Experience using data to make informed decisions
Demonstrated customer service excellence
Strong conflict management skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work creatively and collaboratively with internal and external constituents
Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Master’s degree in related field
Progressive leadership within an office including onboarding, coaching, training and development of other team members
Experience working as part of, or in association with, a one-stop student service center within a university; minimum of three years experience
Experience collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders to effectively drive process improvements
Skilled in technical troubleshooting and the ability to research complex problems
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families and students of diverse backgrounds
Ability to manage change effectively
Ability to perform work with substantial attention to detail
The ability to research and resolve complex problems
Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with a variety of constituents and evidence of strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work with staff, students and families in a manner consistent with Catholic and Marianist values and principles
