We are currently seeking a skilled Systems Administrator to join our UDRI - Research IT division in Dayton, OH.
The Systems Administrator is part of the Research Information Technology Office and provides technical support and excellent service to the Sustainment Technologies Transition. The System Administrator provides system administration support to UDRI’s software applications and other program IT needs. Focused primarily on software applications, this role begins the process of characterizing and diagnosing customer problems by collecting information via direct questioning and utilizing a variety of best-in-class management platforms and remote access tools. Next, they apply logical troubleshooting methodologies along with IT knowledge, experience, and practical abilities to resolve the ticket or escalate as appropriate. This position supports the Research Institute’s software applications by creating user accounts, researching and resolving customer questions and issues, ensuring compliance with security safeguards, and documenting access.
1. Bachelor of Science degree in relevant field plus three years of experience OR an associate's degree plus 5 years of experience2. Knowledge of IT industry best practices and software administration support3. Experience providing excellent customer support and strong communication skills 4. Familiarity with managing Cloud and virtual environments5. Familiarity with installing and managing SSL Certificates6. Ability to read, write, and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and original equipment manufacturer guides7. Based on the nature of this work, must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and successfully complete a Tier one (T1) investigation8. Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
1. Experience with application management and deployment with Microsoft SCCM2. Ability to promote cooperation and commitment within a diverse team to achieve goals and deliverables3. Ability to recover or rebuild client site systems, and applications (reverse engineer)4. Software packaging and troubleshooting experience with SOLIDWORKS and similar design software5. Demonstrated experience successfully and concurrently managing multiple projects6. Active A+, Security+, CISSP, or Network+ certification
