Are you passionate about professional learning? Do you want a role where you can inspire educators, drive innovation, and enhance both teaching and student learning? Make your mark at UD.
The Ryan C. Harris Learning Teaching Center (LTC) at the University of Dayton is seeking a dynamic, creative, and collaborative leader to drive professional learning initiatives for campus educators. At UD, we are deeply committed to high-quality student learning and recognize the growing demands on educators as they navigate evolving student needs, emerging technologies, and new teaching strategies. This full-time role is essential in supporting faculty and staff development, providing them with the tools, resources, and community they need to excel. Through in-person and remote workshops, cohort-based programs, and campus-wide initiatives, you’ll play a key role in empowering educators—helping them enhance their teaching while ultimately improving student learning outcomes.
Reporting to the LTC’s Executive Director, the Director of Learning and Teaching Innovation will design, implement, market, and assess professional development programs that foster transformative learning at UD. This role collaborates with faculty and unit leadership to build and sustain a vibrant community where educators collaborate, innovate, and excel. Key focus areas include student success, innovative pedagogy, evidence-based teaching practices, and classroom assessment. In addition to leading programming efforts, this position will recruit internal and external facilitators to share their expertise with campus educators.
The role requires strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and excellent organizational skills while fostering meaningful campus relationships. This position oversees the LTC’s professional development calendar, ensuring a diverse and impactful range of programs. Responsibilities also include facilitating the Midterm Instructional Diagnosis (MID)—a formative feedback process for faculty—and managing the university-level annual faculty awards nomination and selection process. Additionally, the role involves collecting and analyzing data to assess program effectiveness and inform future initiatives. Communication and outreach are essential. The successful candidate will help to develop marketing strategies, engage stakeholders, and maintain the LTC’s website. They will also play a hands-on role in hosting professional learning events, ensuring a welcoming and engaging experience for all participants.
This full-time, benefit-eligible position offers health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement and disability benefits, tuition assistance for employees and their dependents, vacation and sick leave accrual, and holiday pay. The LTC provides a collaborative and supportive environment dedicated to fostering professional growth and innovation in teaching and learning.
After an appropriate on-boarding period, this position can be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and completing the remote work checklist.
