The responsibilities of the Assistant Dean position are as follows: • Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs on course offerings, scheduling, and identifying faculty to teach in the Hybrid J.D. Program, with the primary responsibility of identifying and securing adjunct faculty (the primary responsibility of identifying and securing full-time faculty for the program resides with the Associate Dean); • Work with the Center for Online Learning to create guidelines, policies, and checklists for course builds to make the courses as consistent in structure and format as possible, within the limits of academic freedom; • Engage in faculty development for those teaching in the Hybrid J.D. Program. Among other topics, faculty development training should include the pedagogical nuances of developing an effective hybrid course, including the best practices for developing asynchronous and synchronous courses, teaching methodologies, and assessments that have proven to be most effective in an online environment; • Review course materials, SFTs, and engage in periodic online classroom observations to ensure the quality of the program and report your findings to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Dean; • Coach and mentor new faculty and those faculty who are not meeting expectations; • Work with the Hybrid JD Coordinator to identify faculty, and coordinate programming and logistics for the Get Real Weekends; • Work with the Associate Dean and the Hybrid J.D. Coordinator on advising students, with the primary responsibility of advising remaining with the Assistant Dean; • Oversee academic affairs for the residential LL.M., the M.L.S, and other courses and training programs developed by or with the Director of Training Programs and Strategic Business Development in Government Contracting and Procurement; • Identify needs for policy changes in the Hybrid J.D., LL.M. and M.L.S, and work with the relevant committees or Associate Dean to propose updates and revisions to the Policy Manual and to implement policies; • Oversee the enforcement of academic policies in the programs and maintain compliance with the requirements of the relevant regulatory authorities; • Work on marketing these programs with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Director of Training Programs and Strategic Business Development in Government Contracting and Procurement; • Work with the Dean and Assistant Dean of Admissions on admissions targets for the Hybrid J.D. program and the Director of Training Programs and Strategic Business Development in Government Contracting and Procurement on targets for those programs. • The Hybrid JD Coordinator will report to the Assistant Dean on matters related to the hybrid J.D. program. • The Director of Training Programs and Strategic Business Development in Government Contracting and Procurement will report to the Assistant Dean; • The Assistant Dean will report to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs; • The Assistant Dean will be an ex-officio member of the Graduate and Special Programs Committee along with the Assistant Dean for Online LL.M. Programs. • The Assistant Dean will be a member of the Admissions Committee.
