UDRI is looking for a Senior Autonomy Research Scientist to join the SPIRE group. You will contribute to a growing team responsible for cutting-edge technology and enhancing autonomy capabilities and effectiveness.
An ideal candidate for this role will be excited at the prospect of implementing state of the art artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques to reveal new insights and research new applications. They will have extensive, professional skills and experience that they can leverage toward improving AI/ML systems, with a focus on modeling/simulation, novel algorithm development and battle management.
1) Bachelor's degree2) 8+ years professional experience 3) Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen4) Active US SECRET (or higher) clearance5) Understanding and experience with current US Air Force (USAF) R&D efforts in Command, Control and Communications Battle Management (C3BM)6) Professional experience USAF modeling and simulation tools AFSIM/Warlock/Mystic7) Professional experience implementing AI tools in a virtual, constructive evaluation environment supporting battle management8) Professional experience with position navigation and timing (PNT) and alt-PNT in contested environments9) Professional experience with and understanding of various sensors and sensing phenomenology, such as optical, multi-spectral, synthetic aperture radar and chem/bio.
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
1. Master's degree (or higher)2. Demonstrated, effective interpersonal skills3. Professional experience with:-- 3.1. Machine/Deep learning techniques-- 3.2. Novel algorithm development -- 3.3. Python programming language-- 3.4. Source code version control systems such as Git, Subversion, or similar4. Strong written and verbal communication skills5. Demonstrated, successful experience improving program/project efficiency and engagement6. Demonstrated, successful experience creating and delivering presentations, briefings, etc. to high level USAF and DoD leadership
