Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Auxiliary Services and Supply Chain Management, the Executive Director for Procurement and Payable Services (ED) is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and management of category management, strategic sourcing, purchasing operations, the purchasing card program, travel solutions, and accounts payable functions at the University of Dayton. The ED is tasked with developing, updating, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Furthermore, the ED will establish and nurture strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the University to ensure effective and efficient procurement and payment for non-payroll services. Aligned with the broader financial objectives of the University of Dayton, the ED will also focus on achieving cost savings through demand management and identifying solutions that result in the lowest total cost of ownership for all controllable non-personnel spend.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field OR in lieu of a bachelor's degree, a high school diploma with at least 5 years of combined education, training and experience that equates to the required degree
• Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in procurement and supply chain management, contract negotiations and vendor management
• Strong analytical, staff management and negotiation skills
• Five or more years of experience supervising a professional team
• Expertise in review and negotiation of contract language (terms and conditions) both commercial and legal is essential
• Ability to understand business drivers, develop knowledge of supplier markets and bring solutions that meet stakeholders’ requirements
• Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
• Experience managing highly-visible and time-sensitive projects with minimal oversight
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of constituents within and outside the university
• Proficient in ERP and procurement tools, systems and processes
• Experienced user of Excel to develop financial reports
• Individual must have a valid drivers license and be insurable by the University, which includes maintaining a low-risk driving record
• Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Master’s degree in business administration or related field
• Experience working in or with higher education
• Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or related certification
• Experience with Jaggaer, Chrome River, AmTrav, Banner, or related ERP
• Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
