Position Summary:

Seeking a Senior Chief Composites Technician to perform advanced mechanical testing activities on polymer and ceramic matrix composites as well as metals in support of sponsored research activities in advanced materials. The candidate will have the ability to apply fundamental science and engineering knowledge with demonstrated proficiency in performing advanced mechanical testing activities on polymer and ceramic matrix composites as well as metals in support of sponsored research activities in advanced materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Graduation or its equivalent.
• Eight years of related technical experience. Formal technical training beyond high school can be substituted for two years of related experience.
• Experience conducting advanced mechanical tests.
• Experience using tools and equipment used in a material testing facility.
• Experience using servo-hydraulic and electro-mechanical test machines.
• Time management skills and work habits.
• Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be able to pass a National Agency Check.
• Advanced formal training of MTS.
• Experience with ASTM standards.
• Experience with hazardous material procedures and safety regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Demonstrated successful experience in the setup and execution of standard mechanical test procedures to measure mechanical behavior and material properties.
• Demonstrated knowledge of ASTM standards for monotonic, cyclic, and sustained load mechanical testing.
• Demonstrated successful experience working with customers, managers, engineers, and other technical staff.
• Demonstrated successful experience with calibration, maintenance, and operation of ancillary equipment in a mechanical testing facility.
