Position Summary:

The University of Dayton's Athletics department is hiring for a Director of Events and Event Services for the historic University of Dayton Arena! This is a full- time benefit eligible position that offers health, dental and vision insurance, retirement, disability, tuition assistance, vacation/sick accrual and holiday pay. The Director of Events and Event Services, directs and coordinates personnel, subcontractors and daily activities involved in the execution of events, including security and safety of the facility and guests. Ensure all advance planning is done in a timely manner and all event details are successfully carried out. Additionally, all UD Athletics employees are expected to comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations governing the University, the NCAA and the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
Experience in facility operations and event management at a public assembly facility (stadiums, arenas, convention centers, concert halls, golf courses, etc.)
Experience with intercollegiate or professional athletics
Experience in administration including budget preparation, purchasing procedures
Experience in contract negotiations
Experience supervising/training personnel
Possess proficient computer skills with the following Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Must be available and willing to work extended and irregular hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
Possess a valid driver’s license, maintains a low risk driving record and is able to be insured by the university

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Experience in operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, event related services and technical requirements for various types of events
Possess working knowledge of event venue building and safety codes
Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results; remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur
Demonstrated a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations; that require poise, tact and diplomacy
Demonstrate the ability to give attention to detail, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines Possess excellent written communication and presentation skills
Demonstrate working knowledge of coordinating events
A demonstrated self-starter and able to work well both independently and in a team environment
Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
