Position Summary:

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Machining & Additive Manufacturing Technician to join our dynamic team in the Sustainment Technologies Transition division. This is an exceptional opportunity for a driven individual to contribute to cutting-edge research and development projects that shape the future of advanced manufacturing.

This position will support advanced manufacturing programs for sustainment activities. The position will serve as the lab technician for the machining and additive manufacturing labs, including part post processing such as manual machining, 5 axis milling, heat treating and wire EDM, equipment/lab maintenance, consumable and spare parts procurement, mentoring and leading younger or less skilled technicians, while adhering to lab and equipment guidelines. The successful candidate will understand machining and additive manufacturing techniques and provide guidance on design for manufacturability, equipment and part set up and part processing. The majority of work will support government customers, but some industry partners will be supported as well.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 10 years of experience in conventional machining operations for metals (ie milling, turning, EDM etc...)
Experience with operating numerical controlled equipment (4 and 5 axis and Lathe) for complex geometries
Experience with various CAD/CAM software packages Attention to detail
Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

10+ years of experience in conventional machining operations for metals
1+ years of experience in additive manufacturing
Demonstrated experience with lab environments and adherence to lab policies & procedures
Experience in interacting with design engineers and other technical personnel
