The Library Access Services Specialist serves as the primary liaison for faculty, staff, students, and community users requesting the use of library spaces for programs and events. This position manages library space reservations and works closely with library departments such as building services and the Dean’s Office as needed for event logistics. This position will assist with space assessment projects and collect and report space usage data as needed. This position will assist the Student Services Library Specialist with training for all student employees by collaborating with other department employees in public services and directly train students associated with access services and aspects of research support. Additional primary Access Services duties include providing customer service support at public services desks and providing backup support for other tasks in Access Services as needed, including building services, circulation, course reserves, interlibrary loan, and/or stacks maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent
Two years of full-time work experience
Strong organization skills and attention to detail
Possesses a strong commitment to customer service
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
Must be willing and able to work some weekends and evenings

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Bachelor’s degree
Event organization experience
Excellent problem-solving skills
Previous or current library working experience
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within and across departments.
Ability to juggle multiple tasks at once
Experience with Alma or other circulation software
Willingness to learn new technologies
Working knowledge in the use of calendars and spreadsheets
Supervisory experience
Familiarity with Catholic and Marianist educational values
